Dogwood Terrace
The building is constructed on a historic footprint of a house built in 1947. Lumber for the original house was salvaged from two Victorian-style Acworth homes by the Eaton family.
Construction of Dogwood Terrace continued the tradition of recycling and the use of local resources.
The open expanse of the building was created by using heavy timber-frame construction.
The timbers were harvested within 30 miles of the restaurant and custom-cut at a sawmill in Cartersville.
All joinery and assembly work was completed on-site.
The main events room features a yellow pine ceiling and quarter sawn white oak wainscoting and doors.
The bar is live edge Padauk, an African rosewood. Padauk is known as the "wood of kings", as King Solomon, it is told, used the rosewood in his palaces. The Club Room combines white oak, red oak and yellow pine with walnut wainscoting. The exotic floors are imported Turkish Travertine.
The outdoor Pavilion is white oak. The fireplaces are built of native Georgia Elberton granite.
The kitchen is reminiscent of European kitchens and features stainless steel walls, ceiling and fixtures.
Outdoor siding is Cyprus from southeast Georgia, and the roof is recycled automobile tires.
Construction is by Thomas Frederick Bretherton, Historic Renovations and Contracting,.
Dogwood Terrace is owned by Darlene Knight.

Darlene also owns the Serendipity House, a delightful gifts, home furnishings and accessories shop right next door.
